Poreč is probably the best known and most visited town on the Istrian west coast. Located on a peninsula is the picturesque old town a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Euphrasius Basilica with the precious Byzantine mosaics. When you visit the Basilica, do not miss the opportunity to climb the bell tower, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view over the roofs of Poreč and the to the sea. It is also worth strolling along the fortress wall and through the historic old town, where many streets and roads have been renewed in the last years. Numerous small shops, restaurants, bars and cafes have settled here.
If possible, you should visit Poreč off-season, as the city is usually overcrowded during the months of July and August. However, getting adequate and well-marked parking spaces close to the city center is no problem even in this period.
